Hall Prangle Attorneys Secure Defense Verdict in Cook County

Hall Prangle attorneys Ben Patterson, Gina Ambrose, and Alina Morhaim obtained a verdict in favor of Defendants in a recent Cook County trial for a suburban outpatient mental health facility and its licensed clinical social worker. Co-Defendants included a family medicine physician who also secured a defense verdict.

This alleged medical negligence case involved a suicide of a 54 year old man the day after he presented to the Defendant outpatient mental health facility and the licensed clinical social worker for a Request for Services intake, and after seeing his primary care provider for multiple visits over the past month. Plaintiff argued that all Defendants should have seen certain risk factors that made the decedent’s suicide foreseeable. Defendants collectively argued that their interactions with the decedent were compliant with the standard of care, and that the decedent denied suicidal ideations that made his suicide unpredictable and unforeseeable.

After a two week trial, the jury deliberated for about two and a half hours and entered a verdict in favor of all Defendants.
